Fire Pit Accessories That Add a Cooking Surface
An open fire gives you heat and not much else. Coals sit where they land, the height is fixed, and anything you cook goes on a stick or in a pot balanced on a rock.
The gear here changes that. A flat-bottomed pit already manages coals better than a bowl-shaped one, and once you add a plate or a spit above them you have real control over distance from the heat. That is the whole game with live fire cooking, and it is why these fire pit accessories earn their keep faster than most add-ons.
The Solid Grill Plate and Direct Heat
The fire pit grill plate is reversible: a solid side for eggs, onions and anything that would fall through, and a grilled side for meat you want marked. One piece, two cooking surfaces, no second thing to carry. Both sides take seasoning the same way, so the plate gets better with use rather than wearing out.
Cooking straight over coals is hotter and faster than a gas burner, so the useful skill is banking the fire to one side and working across the temperature gradient. The flat bottom of the pit makes that easy to set up and easy to redo when the coals burn down.
Rotisserie Over an Open Flame
The fire pit rotisserie kit mounts across the pit and turns slowly over the coals, which is the oldest way to cook a bird and still one of the best. Fat bastes as it goes rather than dripping into a tray.
Two baskets extend what the spit can handle. The large one takes a whole chicken or a load of vegetables, the small one suits wings and fish that would otherwise need constant turning. The kebab rotisserie set runs skewers so a mixed load turns together, and a spare rotisserie motor is stocked separately for when the original wears out.
The Pit Itself, and Packing It Down
The pit is in this collection too. Heavy-duty 3mm powder-coated steel, 23kg, and it slots together without tools into a low pit, a raised pit 30cm off the ground, or a 90cm fire ring for a bigger crowd. At 23kg it is no featherweight, but it carries flat rather than bulky, which is usually the constraint that actually matters.
When the night is over the panels come apart and pack into a bag 5.5cm high. Fire rules change by state, season and site, so check with the local fire authority before you light up.
